Week 5 Lab - Supervised and Unsupervised

Unupervised Rectification

Supervised Rectification

I had the same problems with both labs this week. I did the unsupervised lab twice and I'm still not sure that I did it correctly. When choosing colors, I chose colors that would normally be familiar to me. I wasn't sure if that was the intent or not.

Ft. Worth, TX Thermal Imagery

The following images appear as they do because of this:

Roads: Asphalt absorbs more heat during the day and emits more during the night, making the roads appear brighter.

Natural and man made vegetation: Appears darker because there is less change in radiant temperature.

Sidewalks and Patios: Appear brighter because they also absorb heat during the day and emit it at night.

Storage Sheds in back yards: Have black roofs which causes them to absorb more heat during the day and emit more during the night.

Automobiles: The warm motors cause white spots on the hood and the tires, warm from the friction on the road, will also appear white.

Bright spots on many of the roof tops. The bright spots could be from skylights or heat exhaust from the houses.
